For new comers Petanque is a game that originated in France.
It is played with steel ‘boules” that are thrown to a jack (or “cochonet”). Usually on a mostly flat, gravelly surface, within a lane (or “piste”).
An expanse of lanes is called the terrain. Formally organised the terrain can be called a Boulodrome.
Our Boulodrome is an international standard terrain consisting of 24 lanes. These are 15m x 4m and purpose-built with varying surfaces to cater for varying skill levels and challenging games.
We have installed floodlights on one side of the Boulodrome enabling us to play twilight games which are proving to be very popular with players who work as they can come along after work and play a few games.
The social side of petanque is important. We welcome new members.
On our social game days teams are selected randomly so you will mix with everyone. For tournament competitions you can make up your own teams.
There’s always time to have a chat and a laugh after games. Friday night dinners are regularly held in the Clubhouse. We have social occasions throughout the year including BBQs and friendly matches with other clubs.
If you would like to try the game you can have three “free sessions” before you are required to become a member.
Petanque is an exciting game, check out this Promo Video.
